§ What's included

One price. Everything included.

Supply & fitting

We supply the laminate boards and fitting accessories — underlay, door bars, expansion gap beading and thresholds — and fit everything in a single visit. No separate trips, no items invoiced separately on the day.

Uplift & disposal

Your existing flooring — carpet, old laminate, vinyl — is stripped, rolled and taken away as part of the job. We leave no debris behind and do not charge separately for disposal.

Sub-floor preparation

Laminate requires a flat sub-floor within ±3mm under a 2m straightedge (BS 8425). If the existing floor is out of tolerance we feather-fill high spots and apply levelling compound before fitting. All preparation is included in the fixed price.

Door trimming

Every door is checked and trimmed to clear the new floor height as standard. New flooring raises the floor level and catching doors are a common afterthought — we deal with it before we leave so nothing is left unfinished.

§ Laminate questions

Common questions about laminate flooring.

What AC rating should I choose for laminate flooring?

AC rating indicates wear resistance. AC3 is suitable for residential bedrooms; AC4 is recommended for living rooms, hallways and kitchens with moderate foot traffic; AC5 is commercial grade and appropriate for the busiest residential areas. We recommend AC4 as a minimum for all Berkshire and Surrey homes where the floor will see regular family use.

Can laminate flooring be fitted in a kitchen or bathroom?

Standard laminate is moisture-resistant but not waterproof — it should not be used in bathrooms or areas with standing water risk. In kitchens, it can work in drier areas away from the sink and dishwasher if the correct underlay and expansion gap are used. For wet areas we recommend LVT glued direct as the safer and more durable alternative.

What underlay is needed for laminate flooring?

Laminate flooring requires a foam or combination foam-DPM underlay to provide cushioning and a moisture barrier. We specify the correct underlay thickness and type at the home visit based on the subfloor condition — typically a 3mm foam-DPM combination underlay for concrete ground floors and a 3mm foam acoustic underlay for upper floors.

How long does laminate flooring installation take?

A single room takes half a day to a full day depending on size and subfloor preparation required. A full ground floor with uplift typically takes one day. We include door trimming, thresholds and full clean-up in the job — you don't need to arrange anyone else.

Is laminate flooring suitable for homes with pets or children?

Yes, particularly at AC4 or AC5 grade. Laminate is highly resistant to scratches from pet claws and easy to clean from muddy footprints. The click-lock system makes it fully replaceable plank by plank if a section is damaged. We bring samples to your home visit so you can see the realistic wood or stone effect in your own space before deciding.
