Floors & Fix flooring services — supply, fit, uplift and door trimming included as standard across Berkshire, Surrey and Greater London
Our Services

Flooring services across
Berkshire, Surrey & London.

Free home visit · Fixed price · Fitting guarantee

There are a lot of flooring companies. Most use subcontractors, charge separately for disposal, and leave door trimming for you to sort out afterwards. We include everything in one price — supply, fitting, lifting the old floor, sub-floor preparation, door trimming. One team handles the whole job. One invoice when it's done.

We follow NICF best-practice guidelines on every installation — moisture testing to BS 8203 before anything goes down, sub-floor preparation within manufacturer tolerance, and every product specification confirmed in writing at the time of quote. The detail work most customers never see is what makes the floor stay flat.

N° 01

Supply & Fit.

Carpet, LVT, laminate and engineered wood — we supply quality products at competitive prices and fit them to a professional standard across Berkshire and Surrey. We bring samples directly to your home so you can see and feel every option in your own space before committing. All accessories included — underlay, door bars and scotia. One team, one quote, no subcontractors.

N° 02

Uplift & Disposal.

Old flooring removed cleanly and taken away as standard across Berkshire and Surrey. No skips to book, no mess left behind — we handle it all as part of the job so you don't have to lift a finger. Whether it's carpet, vinyl or laminate, we strip it out and dispose of it responsibly.

N° 03

Door Trimming.

Every door checked and trimmed to clear your new floor — included as standard on all fitting jobs across Berkshire and Surrey. New flooring raises the floor level and sticking doors are the most common afterthought; we deal with it before we leave so nothing is left unfinished. No extra charge, no separate tradesperson to arrange.

N° 04

Sub-floor Prep.

Sub-floor assessed and prepared before anything is laid. Levelling, priming or ply boarding as needed — done properly so the finish lasts. A floor is only as good as what's underneath it, and we don't cut corners on what you can't see.

Sub-floor flatness tolerances are governed by BS 8203 (resilient floor coverings) and BS 8425 (laminate) — both specify a maximum deviation of ±3mm under a 2-metre straightedge. We test and prepare to this standard on every job.

Professional flooring installation in the UK is governed by BS 8203 (resilient floor coverings), BS 8425 (laminate flooring) and BS 8201 (timber and wood-based flooring). The National Institute of Carpet and Floorlay (NICF) sets recognised training and installation standards for the industry. All Floors & Fix installations follow these standards.

Which floor is right for you?

Every home is different. LVT is now the most-fitted floor covering in UK new-builds (over 45% of developer specifications as of 2025). Engineered wood adds the most resale appeal in Berkshire and Surrey's higher-value property market. Use this table to narrow it down — then we'll bring samples to your door.

FAQ

Questions & answers.

LVT is a fully waterproof vinyl plank, so it suits kitchens, bathrooms and hallways where spills and moisture are routine. Laminate has a wood-fibre core with a tougher, more scratch-resistant surface at a lower price — ideal for bedrooms and living rooms. We bring samples of both so you can compare them side by side at home.

In most cases, yes. Engineered wood has a real oak wear layer over a stable plywood base, so it copes with central heating, underfloor heating and seasonal humidity far better than solid boards — and it can still be sanded and refinished in future. It is the only wood product we recommend over UFH.

Yes. We specify UFH-rated products for installations over underfloor heating systems — typically LVT glued direct or engineered oak rated to 27°C surface temperature, with underlays kept within the thermal resistance limits. Compatibility is confirmed in writing at the time of quote.

We assess the subfloor at the free home visit — moisture testing on concrete, flex and level checks on timber. Ply overlays, levelling compound and DPM membranes are included in the fixed price where needed. If a damp floor makes your preferred product a bad idea, we say so and recommend the right alternative.

A dense 80/20 wool-twist or a hard-wearing loop pile holds up best on stairs and in hallways — pile density matters more than depth for high-traffic areas. We fit stair carpet as standard, including winder treads and half-landings, and bring heavy-domestic samples to the home visit.

Smaller items and breakables should be moved, but we shift larger furniture as part of the job and work room by room so the house stays usable. We agree the plan with you at the home visit so there are no surprises on fitting day.

Everything: the flooring itself, underlay, uplift and disposal of the old floor, subfloor preparation, fitting, door trimming and threshold strips, plus a written fitting guarantee. The fixed price you receive at the home visit is the full and final figure.

Often, yes. LVT and engineered wood can run continuously through connected rooms and hallways where the subfloor allows, with expansion provision designed in. Where a threshold is structurally necessary we use low-profile strips matched to the floor finish.

Looking for something specific? We also fit stair carpet, herringbone LVT and vinyl flooring, handle whole-house flooring projects under one fixed quote, and explain exactly what flooring costs and what's included in every price.
