Yes, and it is important to get this right. Laleham's riverside homes sit on suspended timber ground floors close to a high water table, which means ground-level moisture is a genuine concern. We always carry out relative-humidity testing at the free home visit. Standard laminate is not suitable on ground floors here. We fit LVT on a moisture-management system at ground level — fully waterproof and stable — and reserve engineered oak for upper floors where the timber is dry.
Yes. The black bitumen adhesive from original vinyl tiles is chemically incompatible with standard LVT adhesive systems and cannot always be fully removed. We encapsulate it using a specialist barrier primer before fitting, ensuring the new floor bonds correctly to a stable surface and will not re-release within its first year.
