Floors & Fix installs luxury vinyl tile and plank flooring across Camberley, Sandhurst and Frimley (GU15–GU17). LVT is ideal for Camberley's solid-concrete and screed subfloors. We include subfloor prep, adhesive or click-fit installation and all door trimming as standard in every quote.
Camberley is a garrison town in north-west Surrey shaped by its proximity to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and the former Deepcut barracks. Housing stock ranges from 1930s–1960s semis and detached homes on roads like Heatherside and Park Road to newer estates at Deepcut Village and around the Watchetts area. Solid concrete and screed ground floors are the norm; UFH is widespread in the post-2010 Deepcut and Sandhurst Road developments.
62% of Camberley dwellings are owner-occupied, above the Surrey Heath average of 58% — ONS Census 2021, Surrey Heath local authority profile
LVT performs exceptionally well on Camberley's predominantly solid and screed subfloors. For ground-floor rooms in the 1930s–1970s stock, we moisture-test every slab before specifying adhesive-down or loose-lay products — moisture readings above 75% RH require a surface DPM before any LVT is glued. On Deepcut's UFH-screed floors, click-fit LVT must be checked against the manufacturer's UFH temperature specification; most quality products tolerate up to 27°C surface temperature. For interwar Sandhurst properties with mixed subfloors, we may recommend a self-levelling compound to achieve the <3mm flatness tolerance LVT demands over three metres. We stock ranges from Karndean, Amtico and Polyflor.
The bulk of Camberley's semi-detached stock lines roads such as Heatherside Road, Upper Charles Street and the Knoll Road corridor. Built on solid concrete strip foundations, these properties almost always have ground-floor solid concrete or quarry-tile subfloors. Wall ties and damp-proof courses were standard but minimal, meaning moisture readings in bay-fronted front rooms can surprise even experienced fitters.
Solid concrete in good condition is an ideal substrate for LVT. We prime the surface, level any high spots or dips with floor-levelling compound, and then install by click-lock or glue-down depending on the product and room use. The finished floor will be flat, stable, and fully fitted including all door trimming.
Detached bungalows and two-storey homes around the Watchetts Drive and London Road area form a large tranche of Camberley's 1960s–1970s stock. Concrete slab construction is almost universal. Screed overlays were common during kitchen and bathroom refurbishments in the 1990s, meaning floor heights can vary room to room — a factor when matching LVT thicknesses at doorways.
Liquid or power-float screed is the optimal substrate for LVT — flat, stable, and moisture-neutral once cured. We self-level any low spots before fitting to ensure the click or glue-down installation achieves the flatness tolerances required by the manufacturer. Minimal preparation means a faster, cleaner installation with no compromise on quality.
The Deepcut Village regeneration — built on the former Princess Royal Barracks site — introduced thousands of new homes between 2007 and 2020 on roads including Blackdown Road and Gordon Road. These are screed or UFH-screed throughout. Underfloor heating is factory-fitted and widespread; builders used predominantly wet screed systems which require a strict 28-day dry-down before any floor covering is laid.
On underfloor heating screed we always specify glue-down LVT rather than click-lock — continuous heat cycling can cause click joints to stress in some products, whereas a full glue-down bond remains stable across the temperature range. Total thermal resistance of the LVT and any underlay must be ≤0.15 m²K/W to protect heating efficiency. UFH compatibility is confirmed in writing on every quote.
Sandhurst town itself — distinct from the Academy — contains a good spread of 1920s–1940s semis around College Road, Yorktown Road and the Larges Lane area. Suspended timber ground floors are not uncommon in this era, though many have been retrofitted with solid concrete screeds during successive kitchen extensions. A thorough subfloor survey is always recommended before specifying engineered wood.
Where a property has both concrete and timber subfloors — common in converted flats — installation method and preparation vary room by room. Concrete rooms typically receive glue-down LVT; timber rooms receive ply-raft followed by glue-down or click-lock as appropriate. Each room is assessed individually at the home visit and priced separately within your single fixed-price quote.
Yes — we cover all of GU15, GU16 and GU17, including Camberley, Sandhurst, Deepcut Village, Heatherside and Frimley. We offer a free home visit with a fixed price on the day, and all fitting, prep and door trimming are included.
Yes. We verify the surface temperature does not exceed the manufacturer's limit (typically 27°C) and specify a product rated for UFH use. The screed must also be fully cured and below 75% RH — we test on our survey visit.
A ground-floor kitchen and living area in a typical Camberley semi takes one day including subfloor prep. If self-levelling compound is needed it adds a curing day, but we schedule that efficiently so your disruption is minimised.
We handle all subfloor prep — moisture testing, any necessary surface DPM, grinding down high spots and filling low areas with levelling compound. You don't need to do anything beforehand; we assess and price the prep on our home visit.
We work with Karndean, Amtico and Polyflor as our primary brands. All three offer ranges suited to both the traditional character of Camberley's older homes and the contemporary style of Deepcut's new builds. We bring samples to your home visit.
We come to you with samples, measure up and give you a fixed price on the day. No obligation, no deposit. See our lvt flooring service or all flooring options in Camberley.
